Red Road flats to be demolished in double ‘blowdown’ – April 2010

An arts project capturing residents’ memories of the Red Road flats is taking centre stage at an exhibition in Glasgow’s renowned Gallery of Modern Art. The Multi-story exhibition, featuring photographs and video, including the product of a Camera Obscura project and Tall Stories short video animations, is on show at one of Scotland’s leading art venues, Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art between February 20 and June 24.
When they were built in the 1960s, they were the tallest high-rise flats in Europe, but they soon came to be among the most notorious. Now, just 45 years after they were built, a programme will begin to demolish Glasgow’s Red Road flats. But before that, Glasgow Museums hope to gather stories and memories of the buildings and the thousands of people who lived there. View the report here >
