Community Engagement

As part of the Red Road Cultural Project the Open Museum worked with Alive & Kicking Centre on two series of reminiscence classes and museum visits. This was one way in which residents and former residents could reflect on the pending demolition, physical and community changes affecting the area. Several oral histories were recorded and Iseult Timmermans, photographer, capture a number of portraits too.

In 2011 10 Red Road Court appeared on the Doors Open Day schedule attracting over 1500 members of the public over the weekend. Former residents meet old neighbours; students who once lived in the flats recalled meeting life partners and one former resident arrived in his Rolls Royce. A weekend to remember.
